Doja Cat's Account Hacked in Crypto Scam

Popular singer Doja Cat became the latest victim of a social media hack targeting celebrities. Hackers took control of her Twitter account on Monday evening and used it to promote a fake cryptocurrency based on the Solana blockchain. Doja Cat quickly addressed the situation on Instagram, assuring her 24 million followers that the suspicious posts did not originate from her.

The hack began around 7:15 pm ET, with a flurry of tweets directing users to a specific wallet address and pressuring them to invest in a cryptocurrency called "$DOJA." The hackers also deleted Doja Cat's profile picture and bio from her Twitter account, which has over 5.6 million followers.

Savvy Twitter users quickly recognized the activity as a hacking attempt. The hackers even mentioned other celebrities known for their crypto interests, including rapper Iggy Azalea. Azalea, who promotes her own meme coin "$MOTHER," responded on Twitter, distancing herself from the incident and expressing her support for Doja Cat.

While the aim was likely to inflate the value of the fake coin, data suggests limited success. The $DOJA token, hosted on the Solana marketplace Raydium, has seen minimal activity. Despite over 15,000 transactions, the total trading volume remains low, at around $2.2 million.

This incident highlights a concerning trend. Doja Cat joins a growing list of celebrities whose social media accounts have been compromised to promote fake Solana-based meme coins. Similar attacks have targeted Hulk Hogan, 50 Cent, and Metallica in recent weeks, all with large followings on platforms like Twitter.
