Balancer Labs to wind down after $116M November hack; protocol to continue under DAO
Balancer Labs will shut down following financial strain and a $116 million exploit in November, while executives propose that the Balancer Foundation and Balancer DAO take over ongoing operations. The team says the company has been running without revenue and spending heavily to attract liquidity, which it says diluted BAL holders. Balancer’s TVL has fallen from a $3.3 billion peak in November 2021 to $158 million, after dropping to $800 million by October 2025 and then sliding another $500 million in the two weeks after the hack.

Satoshi-era BTC wallet moves $47 after 14 years, holding 2,100 Bitcoin worth $148M
A long-inactive Satoshi-era Bitcoin wallet made a small test transfer after nearly 14 years, moving about $47 in BTC from “1NB3Z…QB6ZX” to a new address at 10:27am UTC on Friday. The wallet still holds 2,100 BTC valued at nearly $148 million at current prices, after acquiring the coins in July 2012 for roughly $6.5 each (about $13,685 total). The move does not confirm an imminent sale, though whale activity is often watched for short-term market signals.

A federal appeals court has refused Kalshi's emergency bid to pause proceedings, a move that could allow Nevada regulators to block the firm's sports event contracts. Gaming lawyer Daniel Wallach said a state-court temporary restraining order now appears imminent and could keep Kalshi from operating in Nevada for at least 14 days while a preliminary injunction hearing is scheduled.

On March 1, crypto e-commerce firm Bitrefill reported a cyberattack involving an employee's compromised laptop, hot wallet theft and access to 18,500 purchase records. The firm linked the tactics to North Korean groups Lazarus and possibly BlueNoroff, and said it will cover the undisclosed losses using its operational capital. Bitrefill added that core services and sales volumes have largely returned to normal after introducing stronger security controls.
