Illuvium (ILV) is an RPG and collection game based on the Immutable X L2 network. Immutable X is an EthereumNFT trading layer 2 protocol that offers users instant trade confirmation, zero gas fees, and massive scalability without compromising user ownership. Illuvium aims to develop a fully decentralized game that can run autonomously and provide players with an AAA-rated (high credit rating given by credit rating agencies) blockchain gaming experience.

According to the Illuvium whitepaper, NFT projects and users are experiencing cost issues when performing Ethereum network transactions. Because Ethereum can only handle a limited number of transactions, users bid up the network's gas prices to settle their transactions quickly. As a result, the trading volume of NFTs has decreased.

Immutable X changes this by allowing users to trade their NFTs without paying gas fees by employing a zero-knowledge (ZK) roll-up. Immutable X also prioritizes NFT liquidity, ensuring buyers find what they're looking for and sellers find someone who wants their NFT.

Illuvium Features and Updates

Illuvium's story takes place in a fantasy world where users can tame and own "Illuvials" - game monsters that can be obtained as NFTs. Illuvials can fight each other, mutate, and develop new abilities.

In the game, there are over 100 Illuvials. Some illuvials are harder to find and considered rarer than others. The monsters eventually battle in the "Battle Arena," with the winners receiving cryptocurrency rewards.

AAA" games are high-budget games with large development teams in the gaming industry. Illuvium is the first Metaverse blockchain game to be awarded a AAA rating. The game is being worked on by over 200 veteran designers and game developers.

Illuvial has commercial-grade 3D graphics that outperform popular blockchain games like Axie Infinity (AXIE) and The Sandbox (SAND), classified as 2D games. The game's beta version is now available for testing and eventual release this year, 2022.

Kieran Warwick and Aaron Warwick founded Illuvium. The chief technical officer is Basil Gorin. Kieran Warwick is a serial entrepreneur who has onboarded major Australian exchanges and launched an over-the-counter cryptocurrency exchange. Aaron Warwick is Illuvium's chief game designer and story supervisor.
