What Is DarkSwap (DARK) and How Does It Work?
DarkSwap (DARK) is a Solana-based privacy-routing project built around private swap flows and planned confidential-balance products using NEAR Intents. Its live product lets a user request a quote, review the destination and fees, then manually send a Solana deposit from their own wallet. DarkSwap does not connect the wallet for these guest-order flows, sign the transfer, or hold the deposited funds.
The live Privacy swap route uses the NEAR Intents 1Click API with basic confidential handling. A separate provider-backed private route is also available. In both cases, a specific pair can only be treated as available after a live quote and order instructions are returned. Solana deposits, the sending wallet, amounts, and timing remain publicly visible, while the exact privacy properties of the onward route depend on the selected provider. DarkSwap states that this is confidential routing, not an anonymity guarantee or deployed zero-knowledge shielding.
DARK is the project's Solana token. Its documented holder-reward design directs half of received creator fees from DARK trading to qualifying holders in wNEAR and uses the other half to purchase a Solana representation of ZEC for the creator-wallet treasury. These flows are separate from customer swap deposits, router fees, and optional account points.
When Did DarkSwap Launch?
DarkSwap's public documentation does not publish a definitive project-launch or token-generation date. Its current materials classify private swap routes and DARK holder rewards as live. The NEAR dark pool is scheduled, with a target of late October 2026 that depends on NEAR enabling access and on DarkSwap completing the integration.
The project also presents its own ZK pools for Solana, Ethereum, and Base as a local-development preview. They are not deployed on a public network and have not completed an independent audit. Users should distinguish live private-routing features from scheduled or built-but-not-deployed features before relying on a product claim.
Who Created DARK?
DarkSwap's public materials refer to a project-controlled creator wallet and project operators, yet they do not identify named founders, a legal entity, or a publicly disclosed foundation in the sources reviewed for this page. The documentation says DarkSwap operates servers for quotes and order records, holds the treasury, and sends DARK holder payouts.
This limited public disclosure is relevant to risk assessment. Users should verify the current website, token metadata, and any future governance or multisig disclosures before treating the project as team-transparent.
DarkSwap Roadmap
- NEAR confidential dark pool: Build a confidential balance that can be funded from a supported chain, held privately, swapped inside the NEAR private shard, and withdrawn to supported chains. The stated target is late October 2026, subject to external access and integration gates.
- Public ZK-pool testnets: Move the locally tested Solana, Ethereum, and Base pools toward public testnets after resolving the required deployment gates.
- Security setup and audit: Complete an external setup ceremony and an independent audit before any ZK-pool user-fund deployment. The current development proving keys are not suitable for production use.
- Liquidity and fee routing: The project proposes using future ZK-pool fees to add ZEC and DARK liquidity. This remains a proposal, and the production contracts and final settings have not been confirmed.
What Is the DARK Token Utility?
DARK currently functions primarily as the token connected to the project's creator-fee, holder-reward, and liquidity design. Its utility should be assessed separately from the live routing terminal, because product usage, trading liquidity, creator-fee receipts, and token-holder distributions are distinct variables.
1. Holder reward eligibility: The project states that qualifying DARK holders can receive wNEAR payouts from half of received DARK creator fees. Eligibility uses a fresh snapshot at each scheduled payout, requires at least 100,000 DARK, and is subject to exclusions. Past payouts do not guarantee future distributions.
2. Treasury and liquidity linkage: The other half of received creator fees is allocated to purchasing a Solana representation of ZEC for the creator-wallet treasury. The project also maintains ZEC-DARK liquidity on Solana. Treasury holdings, liquidity positions, and distributions should not be treated as interchangeable balances.
3. Future protocol-liquidity proposal: DarkSwap proposes that future ZK-pool fees could purchase ZEC and DARK and add them to liquidity. This mechanism is not live, and it depends on public deployment, security gates, and final contract design.
BingX directory checks performed for this page found an inactive DARK-USDT spot record and no exact DARK perpetual record. Availability may change, so users should check the live BingX market interface before attempting to trade DARK. This page does not claim an active BingX spot or futures market.
What Is DarkSwap Tokenomics?
The DARK mint is a Solana Token-2022 token with 6 decimals. A direct Solana mainnet mint query retrieved an observed supply of 999,282,865.482293 DARK. The same query showed no active mint authority and no freeze authority, meaning the current mint configuration cannot create additional units or freeze token accounts through those authorities.
The token metadata still has a separately recorded update authority, so readers should not equate disabled mint and freeze authorities with immutable metadata or with complete decentralization. Supply, liquidity, and token-holder concentration can change through transfers, burns, pool activity, and other mechanisms that this mint check does not measure.
Public project materials describe a 1% DARK creator fee paid in wNEAR. Half of received fee proceeds is directed to qualifying-holder payouts and half to the creator-wallet treasury's ZEC purchases. This is a creator-fee allocation, not a verified measure of total project revenue, protocol profit, or a guaranteed return for holders.
