What Is Shutter(SHU) Coin?

 
Shutter (SHU) coin is the governance token of the Shutter project, which aims to address a specific issue within the Ethereum blockchain: front-running and malicious miner extractable value (MEV).
 
Front-running occurs when miners on the Ethereum blockchain exploit their privileged position to see pending transactions before they are confirmed. This allows them to insert their own transactions ahead of others, manipulating the order of transactions and potentially profiting unfairly. MEV is a broader term encompassing various strategies miners can use to extract additional value from the blockchain beyond the standard block rewards. These practices can lead to inefficiencies and unfairness for regular users.
 
The Shutter project tackles this problem by introducing a novel technique called threshold encryption. In essence, transaction data is encrypted before it is submitted to the network. Only miners with a certain threshold of computing power can collectively decrypt the data and include it in a block. This significantly reduces the risk of miners peeking at transaction details and front-running others.
 
SHU token holders play a crucial role in the Shutter ecosystem. They have governance rights, allowing them to vote on important decisions regarding the project's development, such as protocol upgrades, fee structures, and partnerships.
