JPMorgan debuts JPM Coin pilot in Argentina, signaling broader Latin America expansion
JPMorgan's JPM Coin has entered Argentina in what could become a wider push across Latin America. A consortium of Argentine banks, including Banco CMF via its corporate unit QORP, has started piloting JPM Coin—JPMorgan's fiat-backed deposit token—for interbank settlement and reconciliation. The pilot is running without real funds. Blockchain is being used to record and match transactions, while traditional rails still handle final settlement. Banco CMF's CIO said the objective is to validate settlement-time improvements of as much as 50%. Banco Galicia, BIND and Banco Comafi are reportedly assessing whether to participate. The move comes as Argentina's central bank continues to prohibit banks from offering crypto to customers, though internal blockchain applications are not banned and the restriction is under active review. JPMorgan opened JPM Coin to institutional clients on the Base Layer 2 network in November 2025, then expanded to the Canton Network in January. The Argentina program is its first confirmed foothold in an emerging market. Latin America saw $1.5 trillion in crypto transaction volume from 2022 to 2025. If the Argentine pilot validates the model, JPMorgan has identified Brazil, Colombia and Mexico as the next likely markets.

A Hyperliquid-focused ETF could be nearing market debut after Bitwise's latest submission to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, according to Bloomberg's top ETF analyst. BNB Chain Urges Node Operators to Install BSC v1.7.2 Ahead of April 28 Hard Fork
BNB Chain has issued an urgent notice to node operators ahead of a critical network upgrade scheduled for April 28, warning that failure to apply a mandatory software update could cause nodes to fall out of sync during the hard fork. Developers said operators must upgrade to BSC version 1.7.2 before the Osaka and Mendel hard fork activates. The upgrade is set to go live on the BSC mainnet on April 28 at 2:30 a.m. UTC. The guidance also calls for correctly replacing binaries and removing outdated configuration fields to avoid stability issues once the change takes effect. Osaka and Mendel follow a testnet rollout completed in March, where the team evaluated performance changes under real-world conditions and reported improved transaction processing and more consistent execution. A core element of the Mendel upgrade is the integration of EIP7825 via BEP652, introducing a strict per-transaction gas limit cap of 16,777,216. Under the new rules, nodes will uniformly reject transactions that exceed the cap, replacing the previous softer, optional mechanism and aiming to make transaction behavior more predictable. The release also includes nine additional BEPs and adopts seven Ethereum Improvement Proposals aligned with Ethereum's broader upgrade framework, while excluding some proposals due to differences between the ecosystems. BNB Chain added network-specific optimizations as well, including limits on blob transactions based on block numbers to better manage data flow, along with changes intended to reduce latency and speed up transaction finality. BNB Chain said the April 28 deadline is a key compliance checkpoint for operators seeking to avoid disruption during the hard fork.
