Kraken user hit by social engineering scam; 8,662 ETH stolen, funds sent to HitBTC

Odaily Planet Daily reports that on-chain analyst Yujin flagged an apparent social engineering attack involving a Kraken user. The incident led to the theft of 8,662 ETH, valued at about $18.19 million. Roughly six hours ago, the attacker moved the stolen proceeds—7,784 ETH and 26.5 BTC—to HitBTC. The transfer is believed to be linked to HitBTC's ability to facilitate crypto trading and withdrawals without KYC verification.
