VIX Hits 27.44 as US Stocks Shed $1T; Oil Jumps and Bitcoin Slides to $68,842
U.S. equities fell sharply on Thursday as rising U.S.-Iran tensions pushed oil higher and sparked broad risk-off selling across stocks and crypto. The Dow closed down 1.01% at 45,960.11, the S&P 500 fell 1.74% to 6,477.16, and the Nasdaq dropped 2.38% to 21,408.08 as the VIX rose to 27.44. Bitcoin declined about 2.5% to roughly $68,842 by 5 p.m. Eastern, while WTI climbed 2.2% to around $92.16 per barrel.
