India’s average retail sugar price rose for a second straight day, reaching Rs 65.05 per kg on August 26 amid stronger festive demand. Retail prices remain elevated even after ex-mill rates fell nearly 20% following the government’s decision to allow imports of 10 lakh tonnes of raw sugar and steps to curb speculation and hoarding. The average retail price is 34% above Rs 48.68 per kg a month ago and 41% higher than Rs 46.27 per kg a year earlier, according to the Department of Consumer Affairs’ Price Monitoring Division. Food Secretary Sanjeev Chopra said ex-mill prices had declined 18% to Rs 55 per kg.

Qualcomm shares slide 38% from 2026 high as analysts turn more positive
Qualcomm shares have fallen about 38% from their year-to-date high, while the company reported fiscal third-quarter revenue down 4% year over year to $9.9 billion and a 20% drop in handset revenue. The company now expects non-handset QCT revenue to exceed $40 billion by fiscal 2029, nearly doubling its previous $22 billion goal, with automotive and IoT contributing more than $24 billion and data centers over $15 billion. Management also projects data center revenue of about $5 billion in fiscal 2027. Analyst sentiment has improved in recent months.

Prudential to sell 2% stake in ICICI Prudential AMC on Aug. 27; shares slip
UK-based Prudential plans to sell up to 98.85 lakh shares, or 2% of ICICI Prudential AMC, via the open market on Aug. 27. If fully completed, promoter and promoter group ownership will fall to 85.60% from 87.60%. ICICI Bank, the other promoter, said it will not buy shares of the asset manager from the open market on Aug. 27. The stock fell 1.90% on Wednesday to close at Rs 3,223.60.

J.M. Smucker posts $3.24 adjusted EPS in fiscal Q1, tops estimates
J.M. Smucker reported fiscal 2025 first-quarter net income of $324.3 million, or $3.03 per share, with adjusted earnings of $3.24 per share. The adjusted result exceeded analysts’ expectations of $2.21 per share, according to Zacks Investment Research. Revenue was $2.22 billion, above the $2.11 billion forecast. The company said it expects full-year earnings of $10.50 to $11 per share.

3M India FY26 revenue rises 14.5% to ₹5,089.8 crore, net profit up 9.7%
3M India reported FY26 revenue of ₹5,089.8 crore, up 14.5% year on year, and net profit of ₹522.3 crore, a 9.7% increase. Pretax profit (after exceptional items) rose 15.6%. All four business segments posted double-digit growth, led by Healthcare at 17.5%.
