OpenAI revenue run rate tops $40 billion as it readies for an IPO
OpenAI’s revenue growth is accelerating, with its annualized revenue run rate now on track to exceed $40 billion. ChatGPT has more than 1 billion monthly users, giving the company a large base to monetize via subscriptions and a growing advertising business. S&P 500 slips 0.17% as weak July retail sales revives US slowdown worries
U.S. retail sales fell 0.6% m/m in July, far below expectations for a 0.1% increase, while core retail sales excluding autos and gasoline slipped 0.2% m/m versus forecasts for a 0.3% gain, according to the U.S. Commerce Department. PayPal rises as Stripe and Advent reopen takeover talks after $60.50-per-share bid
PayPal has reopened buyout talks with Stripe and private-equity firm Advent after rejecting their July offer of $60.50 per share as too low. On the back of the report, PYPL shares closed about 2% higher on Friday.
